Queen Budapest will be released to mark the 40th anniversary of this pivotal moment in the band's history, and the film has been meticulously restored in 4K from the original filmed 35mm footage by Sir Peter Jackson's Park Road facility in New Zealand, with newly remixed audio from the original multitrack recordings to deliver the most immersive presentation of the performance to date.<br/><br/>Captured on July 27, 1986, at Budapest's Népstadion, during the band's 'The Magic Tour', the concert was a groundbreaking moment, as Queen became one of the first Western rock bands to perform behind the Iron Curtain during a period of profound cultural and political change. In addition to 80,000 tickets selling out, an estimated 45,000 people listened to the group outside, and some fans had travelled from as far away as Russia and Poland to see the concert.<br/> <br/>With the scale of the achievement, it would have been impossible to imagine that Queen would go on to play only a further five shows, ending forever their touring days with Freddie only one month later, with their final show played at Knebworth Park in England on August 9th, 1986.<br/> <br/>Queen Budapest is the last filmed live performance of the band with Freddie Mercury, showing the band at the height of their powers as a live act. The film captures the band performing iconic hits such as "We Will Rock You," "We Are The Champions," "A Kind Of Magic," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Under Pressure," "Who Wants To Live Forever," "Hammer To Fall" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" as well as an acoustic arrangement of the traditional Hungarian folk song "Tavaszi Szél Vizet Áraszt".

i am so thrilled to share the film for my concert cornucopia with you .<br/>this has been a long journey with hundreds of people helping out . i am so beyond enormously grateful to every single one of them . <br/> <br/>i feel the modern concert film is a matriarchially friendly construct , welcomed in the current climate . where female musicians can share their worlds uncorrupted . in cornucopia , i was joined by musical director and multi instrumentalist bergur þórisson , percussionist manu delago , flute septet Viibra , harpist katie buckley and the hamrahlid choir .<br/> <br/>i spent last decade working with 360-degree sound and visual software in virtual reality and animation, creating Biophilia and later Vulnicura as a VR album . i was deeply inspired by the idea of a fully-immersive experience spreading Utopia and Fossora into fully surround speakers . my intention was to bring what we had created for 21st-century VR into a 19th-century theatre - taking it from the headset to the stage .<br/> <br/>this vision was realised with 27 moving curtains that captured projections on different textures and LED screens , creating a digitally animated show : a "modern lanterna magica" for live music . i also wanted to feature bespoke instruments: a magnetic harp , an aluphone , a circular flute , and a reverb chamber , specially built with an audio architect to enhance the most intimate version of a performance-in a personal chapel .<br/> <br/>throughout this tale, there is a subplot woven in : a second story of an avatar-a modern marionette who alchemically mutates , from puppet to puppet , from the injury of a heart wound to a fully healed state .<br/>i hope you enjoy it .<br/>warmness ,<br/>björk
